Highlights of the President's State of Nation Address

1. Government to provide nine billion cedis for the 40 most deprived Districts for education.
2. Government provided 28.8 billion cedis for research in Universities and polytechnics last year.
3. Government's policy on sanitation will be on inspection compliance enforcement, hygiene, education, and pest control.
4. African Development Fund (ADF) provides 500,000 dollars for the next five years to support small and medium scale enterprises.
5. 100 medium-sized garments and textile factories to be established in the Tema Export Processing Zone this year.
6. Ghana to earn 1.5 billion dollars in Tourism by 2007 from one million tourists.
7. The World Bank provides 20.5 million dollars to implement first-phase of the Ghana Land Administration Programme (GLAP).
8. The Ghana Railway Company (GRC) increased its haulage by 11 percent.
9. Government provided 685 three-unit classroom blocks throughout the country last year. This year 440 more would be constructed.
