An association of paramount chiefs and queens in the Ho-West District, dubbed Congress, founded five years ago, is on the verge of transforming into a novelty District House of Chiefs.

The import of its founding was to lobby local government officials, to grant the undulating mountain bottom and hilltop communities, the status of a district, carved from Ho Municipal.

Osie Adza Tekpor, VII, Paramount Chief of Avatime and Chairman of the Congress told a meeting at Dzolo-Kpuita, Sunday, to launch the Association’s fifth year commemorative programme, stressed that the Association stood relevant today as yesterday.

He said unity among the 16 traditional areas forming the district remained astounding five years on, and that what was pending was for it to transform into a House of Chiefs, first of its kind in the country.

Abutia, Akome, Akorviefe, Anfoeta, Avatime, Awudome, Dodome, Dzolo, Etordome, Kpale, Kpedze, Kpoeta, Hlefi, Holuta, Saviefe and Tsome-Afedo, are the traditional areas forming the Congress.

Sammy Ewoade, Ho-West District Chief Executive (DCE) lauded the good relations between the congress of chiefs and the District Assembly.

He said the Assembly will always welcome contributions of the chiefs and other stakeholders towards the development of the young district.

Mr Ewoade said the completion of the Ho-Fume road, linking Ho to the Eastern Corridor route at Fume, had already brought some investors to the district on business exploratory tours.

He said there were huge tourism venture opportunities in the district.
