A number of constituency and polling station executives; supporters and sympathisers of the ruling New Patriotic Party converged at Asuogyaman to join Paul Ansah in his much anticipated health walk, dubbed ‘Keeping Fit For 2020.
Clad in T-shirts, the visibly cheerful participants together with Mr Ansah walked about five kilometres from Tusker, through Atimpoku to Akrade amidst drumming and dancing by various youth groups within the Asuogyaman Constituency.
The health walk was organized by the Constituency Executives with sponsorship from Ansah, the immediate past Director General of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. The objective of the walk was to revive the spirit of the NPP in Asuogyaman and energize the constituents towards the 2020 elections.
Ansah thanked the participants for the massive turnout and entreated them to rally behind the NPP government in its quest to deliver on its promises to the people. He took the opportunity to declare his intention to contest the Asuogyaman Member of Parliament seat come 2020.
Prior to the Health Walk, about 600 out of the 700 delegates of the party from all 37 electoral areas in the Asuogyaman Constituency had called on him at his Akwamu Aboasa residence to pledge their unflinching support and allegiance. According to them, Ansah’s goodwill and charitable gestures have made the NPP attractive in the constituency while in opposition and even to the present times.
Addressing participants, the Eastern Regional 2nd Vice Chairman of the NPP, Twum Barimah appealed to the youth to exercise patience and support the government as it rolls out various social interventions programs that would consequently create lots of job opportunities for them.
The Constituency Chairman, Dr. Godfred Akyea Darkwah thanked Ansah for his immense contribution towards the progress of the party in the Asugyaman constituency in particular and towards the building of an office complex for the party in the Constituency. He also pledged his support for Ansah in his bid to contest in 2020.
