According to him, President John Mahama has done many development projects, citing the Circle interchange and Kasoa interchange, other roads in and around Korle Gonno and as such must be praised for his efforts.

The popular boxer, Michael Ayitey Okine, commonly known as Ayitey Powers, revealed that he is a strong member of the ruling NDC party and accused his fellow boxer, Braimah Kamoko of spreading allegations that he (Ayitey) associates himself with the opposition party, NPP because he (Bukom) wanted money.

Interacting with Tony Adam Adjei on KasapaFM’s Sport Show ‘Dwedwemu’, Powers disclosed that Bukom Banku spoke about his supposed affiliation to the NPP out of ignorance since the NPP aspirant for Ablekuma South Constituency, Jerry Shaibu happens to be his Lawyer.

“I’m NDC member since Ex-Prez Jerry John Rawlings' time, moreover Prez Mahama’s Sister, Hawa is my best friend so through her I got the opportunity to interact with the President and not what Bukom Banku is claiming that he introduced me to the President.

“This John Mahama song was done long time but I kept it without releasing it but due to how Bukom Banku is tagging me with the opposition party, I was forced to release the song.”

When asked why he didn’t keep his political party affiliation as a secret since he is a Star, Ayitey replied that “everyone is entitled to his opinion so I’m not bothered on why I can’t disclose my political party affiliation to the public, for me my vote isn’t my secret, I will say it openly so what can come can come.”
