Even before the hierarchy of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) comes out with a clear cut time table of its next congress to elect party executives, the fear stricken chairman of the party, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, has defied his party’s constitution and openly campaigning to retain his seat, saying "Ï will win the next elections hands down".
It is a slap in the face of the constitution of the NDC to campaign ahead of a given time table, and that is exactly what the lonely and desperate chairman is doing. Using incumbency to his advantage to the detriment of would-be contestants.
"Having been around for close to 30-40 years, I know the concerns of the youth and given the opportunity I will do everything possible to address their concerns. We have not struggled in vain, and I would not leave the scene for a novice; I ought to complete what I began", Dr. Kwabena Adjei stated.
The NDC chairman was speaking to a section of the media during the launch of Fiesta T.V and the one Ghana project in Accra over the weekend, ostensibly to market himself and to campaign surreptitiously.
The visibly shaken chairman said "go and do your research well, I will win. I did not want to say this, but now that the opportunity is here let me tell my competitors that I am a chairman for life and I shall win come the next congress".
The incumbent national chairman of the NDC has a big river to cross as notable and hardworking personalities within the party including Dan Abodakpi, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya and the NADMO boss, Kofi Portuphy are all waiting to compete for Chairman of the party.
