The Head Pastor of the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), one of the leading charismatic churches in Kumasi has taken a swipe at politicians and leaders of political parties who only turn up in churches in electioneering year when they need votes.

Pastor Ransford Obeng landed the blow squarely, when the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo – Addo paid a visit to the church last Sunday.

“I have always told you that if you are not truly saved then to us, you are not living. Some politicians will only come to church when they need votes,” he remarked.

Pastor Ransford, further warned politicians against womanizing calling on them to “close their zips in holiness,” a call which drew the rousing applause and cheers of the congregation.

The flagbearer, who was later given the opportunity to share a word with the church in response, cleared the notion that he was in there because of votes.

“I am not an election year politician. I am a Christian every year and if you go to Saint Cyprian’s Anglican they will tell you I am a congregant,” he insisted.

Nana Addo further called on the church to intercede on his behalf and the NPP ahead of November 7 polls.

“We have been going through some difficult times and we want the protection of the lord over the NPP to give us harmony and strength; that we will deliver on the task that has been put before us to provide Ghana with good governance.” He entreated.

He also called for prayers for the state in the wake of the spate of deaths recorded in the past few days from the Kintampo accident, tribal conflicts, violent attacks and gruesome murders.

The NPP torch bearer was accompanied by his all time contender Alan Kwodwo Kyeremanteng, former Minister of Information, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Member of Parliamen (MP)t for Asokwa Patricia Appiagyei, Former MP for Kwadaso Cecilia Dapaah, the secretary of the Otumfour and the party’s Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser Stephen Amoah.
