Joe Ghartey, the Member of Parliament for the Essikado-Ketan Constituency, has touted his great contributions to the socio-economic welfare of the constituents in the last two decades.

According to him, numerous developments brought into the constituency under his tenure were a testament to his dedication to duty, adding,” I am proud of my achievements, and I know I have gained favor both in the sight of the people and God.”.

Ghartey, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, also thanked the constituents for the opportunity to serve in the last four years under the New Patriotic Party.

He mentioned the construction of Astro Tuffs, CHPS compounds, school blocks, and roads, among other significant projects.

Meanwhile, the NPP failed to retain the seat in Essikado-Ketan in the December 7 elections to the NDC, 20 years after its creation, and the party took charge in the constituency.

Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, a surgeon and NDC Member of Parliament-elect, would now serve the constituency with 162 electoral areas.

She polled a total of 26,166 votes to beat Charles Bissue, the NPP candidate, who had 17,754 in an election that saw 79,344 voter turnouts.

The elections in the constituency, though largely peaceful, saw pockets of agitation, destruction of ballot boxes, particularly at the collation center, and even assault on security personnel and journalists stationed there.

Dr. Ayensu-Danquah promised the constituency new projects and development to lift the living standards of the people.

After the December 2024 polls, there have been security concerns across the country. Catch Etsey Atisu's interview with security analyst, Adib Saani, on Election Desk on GhanaWeb TV below:
