National Democratic Congress (NDC) former Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo constituency, Teye Nyaunu says the constituency executives have no locus to suspend him as reported.
The outspoken politician and some three other party members in the constituency have been suspended for misconduct.
According to the constituency chairman, David Walter Hormelu, they took the decision in accordance with the party’s constitution which stipulates that, any member found to have violated the part’s laws step aside aside for a period of six months for investigations.
But speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said he has not received an official letter over his illegal suspension and got to know about it through the media.
‘’The constituency executives have no locus to say that they are expelling from the party or suspending me. If anything by the constitution they must make reference to the region, but here we are the region and national doesn’t know what is going on.’’
Explaining further, he said the Vice Chair, Women Organizer and 10 other executive members are saying that, all resources brought to the constituency for the 2016 elections, were not disclosed to them.
He said when they asked, the MP of the area told them that he was funding the party himself.
And so, they wrote a letter requesting otherwise of the matter. I was copied and I later sent a copy to the National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy came down and it turned out the money was not disclosed including that of party agents.
‘’So out of bitterness, they are saying that those who sent the letter to the national executives are those they are suspending.’’
He told Nyankonton Mu Nsem that he will be surprised if he receives a letter of suspension but was quick to add that, he will not take any letter from anyone since it is not within their bosom to suspend him.
