Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed disappointment in former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo‑Addo, saying he did not deliver the level of change he once expected.

In an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Kwetey reflected on his earlier expectations of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leader.

He noted that although they belonged to opposing political parties, he believed Akufo‑Addo would bring meaningful transformation to Ghana’s governance.

According to him, before Akufo-Addo became president, he hoped he would bring real change, but he failed him, adding that he had expected stronger leadership decisions from him.

He added, “I don’t know why Nana Akufo‑Addo couldn’t do it. I was a bit disappointed, even though we belong to different political parties. Prior to becoming president, I always thought he had the personality to do what is right, regardless of whether individuals get offended or not.

"...Unfortunately, it turned out that once you are loyal to him, you are kept, but it shouldn’t be so. You have to do what is right for the country even if it goes against your party.”

In the same interview, Kwetey also addressed the issue of a possible ministerial reshuffle under President Mahama, stating that the current administration would not hesitate to act when necessary.

He explained that Mahama is prepared to make changes in the interest of effective governance.

He stated, “I wouldn’t be able to give it time, but all I can tell you is that there will not be one moment of hesitation if a reshuffle has to be done.”
