Some few months ago, the former Municipal Chief Executive of the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, Mr. Yamoah Ponkoh warned his party not to underestimate the influence of Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako in the Ashanti region.
The former MCE is on record to have stated on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show that inasmuch as he won't name NDC officers who are on the payroll of Chairman Wontumi, the leadership of his party must work harder to ensure former President Mahama wins the 2020 general elections.
The above statement has generated a reaction from Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
According to the NPP chairman, he will continue to infiltrate the camp of the NDC with his personal spies and ensure he weakens their front in the Ashanti region.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Chairman Wontumi noted that aside the views expressed by Mr. Yamoah Ponkoh, he has also sighted a statement by an NDC activist claiming that he has most of the NDC regional executives on his payroll.
According to Chairman Wontumi, he has planted several of his loyalists into the NDC manifesto committee to give out information to the NPP.
As Chairman of the ruling party, Chairman Wontumi noted that "My mandate is to weaken and make useless the NDC machinery in Ashanti region.
I am really doing that and have alot of spies in their camp. It makes it easier for me to operate and tap into whatever information I want from them."
"I have strategically placed my own people in the NDC when they recently appointed their regional manifesto committee members.
If any group in the NDC has made an observation that the recent actions of their executives in my region is bent on harming their (NDC) fortunes, I will say yes.
I won't hide from my act- I have been doing it to make the New Patriotic Party stronger in our stronghold".
Chairman Wontumi noted that his political opponent were always falling into the traps he sets and knows that as 2020 approaches, he will be able to field his loyalists into every committee establishment of the NDC.
