President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his unwavering confidence in the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket.

He praised both candidates for their proven track records and strong work ethic.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, where Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, was introduced to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, President Akufo-Addo said, "I have trust and confidence in the two of them to do the work."

"I have worked with the two, and I know that they can do it. I know that on December 7 when Ghanaians have given them the mandate, they will work to meet the expectations of Ghana."

President Akufo-Addo's endorsement of Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Opoku Prempeh's candidacy was a key moment in the event, reinforcing the NPP's commitment to its electoral promises and its readiness for the challenges ahead.

President Akufo-Addo also confirmed that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's appointment as Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia's running mate was met with unanimous approval from the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) National Council.

A host of prominent NPP figures, including President Akufo-Addo, the Council of Elders, Members of Parliament, and other influential party members, attended the event.

President Akufo-Addo used the occasion to commend Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his pivotal role in implementing the government's flagship Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.

"Dr. Prempeh's implementation of the Free SHS policy is a testament to his hard work, which I believe will be translated into the leadership of the country," President Akufo-Addo stated.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, expressed his gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for selecting Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate.

The King fondly recalled the days when he had supported Dr. Prempeh through his school years, including paying his fees, and voiced his pride in the Minister's accomplishments.

"I am grateful to President Akufo-Addo for this decision," Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said, reflecting on his historical support for Dr. Prempeh.

"I have watched with pride as Dr. Prempeh has grown into a capable leader," he added.
