I'm happy current MP lost – Former Kwadaso MP

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kwadaso Constituency, Hilda Addo; has revealed that she was instrumental in the loss of the sitting MP at the party's parliamentary primaries.

According to her, she went into the primaries with the sole aim of unseating Dr. Afriyie Akoto Osei, who she described as unfit to stand as MP in the area in the first place. She added that the MP had also failed in his tenure to have any positive impact on the area.

She put forth that most utterances of the sitting MP were also in bad taste and did not bode well for party unity, so she put herself up as 'sacrifice' to infiltrate his camp and to split the votes in order to allow Dr Kojo Nuamah who won the just ended primaries.

"I infiltrated the camp of Dr. Afriyie Akoto and got his supporters to vote for me whiles I asked my supporters to vote for Dr. Kojo Nuamah, that plan worked so well and I am very happy, there is a lot of jubilation in my house for the loss of the sitting MP," she said.

"I wanted to complete some projects during my tenure but I failed to win the bid. I expected him (Afriyie Akoto) to complete them but he did not, I wanted a return to parliament which I failed but I am happy because he was defeated eventually," she added.

She was speaking on Accra-based Radio Gold.

In last week's primaries, the sitting MP lost his bid to return to parliament after he polled 95 votes to come in fourth behind the eventual winner, Dr. Kojo Nuamah; who won with 198 votes whiles Hilda Addo polled 139 votes and Dr. Charles Dwamena came in third with 98 votes.

The two other competitors Dr. Kingsley Nyarko and Dr. Vincent Manu got 78 and 14 votes respectively.
