An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi North constituency in the Greater Accra region, Fuseini Isaah, has pointed out that among the four (4) contestants vying for the party’s parliamentary slot in the constituency, he is the “best.”
Though he said it would look like he was blowing his horn, he stressed that the truth must be told so as to help the delegates in the constituency make an informed choice ahead of the NPP’s nationwide primaries in June 13, 2015.
“Giving my engagements elsewhere and my exposure, I know for sure that I’m the best to be elected for the Okaikoi North constituency,” he told Today in an interview.
Looking confident for his vetting today, Mr. Fuseini recounted how he developed interest in politics even at the tender age of four.
He disclosed that he was born into a family of politicians, adding that growing up politics naturally became part and parcel of him.
The overconfident aspiring NPP Okaikoi North parliamentary candidate was also full of praise for his uncle whom he said influenced his political ambition.
He indicated that his desire to take active part in politics is to serve his people the best way he could do by representing them in Parliament to champion their course.
According to him, he has “diligently and sincerely” served the NPP and therefore it was time for the party also to reward him with a parliamentary slot.
Unlike other NPP parliamentary candidates who decided to go solo in 2008 and 2012 parliamentary elections because they lost their bids to lead their constituencies, the young energetic aspiring parliamentary candidate said he never did that in 2012 when he lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Mrs. Elizabeth Sackey.
“I did not go independent and neither did I abandon my role in the party when I lost to her (Mrs. Elizabeth Sackey). In fact I supported her to ensure that the Okaikoi North NPP retains the seat,” Mr. Fuseini noted.
In his opinion people who went solo as parliamentary candidates in the past elections should not be entertained in the party’s fold, apparently referring to one of his contenders, Mr. Seth Adjei Baah, who stood as an independent candidate in Nkawkaw in the Eastern region in 2008.
“NPP is bigger than every single individual and for that matter I don’t see why the party should allow such elements to behave as if they own the party, Mr. Fuseini intimated.
When asked about his chances in the primaries, he said it would be difficult for him to lose this time around, noting that his service to the constituency is ample evidence for the delegates to judge.
Though he did not rule out the fact that anything could happen, he said it would be politically suicidal for the delegates to make a wrong choice.
Mr. Fuseini who claimed he is “humble, good listener, unifier, transparent” and above all “caring” promised to bring his expertise to bear on the constituency and by extension the NPP as a whole.
“My experience as a Chartered Accountant and an Investment Banker will have great impact on my constituency and that is the more reason why I stand tall among the contestants,” he said.
Mr. Fuseini is contesting with three others—businessman, Seth Adjei Baah; Managing Editor, Searchlight newspaper, Kenneth Adjei Kuranchie, and; a former constituency treasurer, Ms. Francisca Ayorkoh Boateng.
