I will lead NDC to victory in 2016 - NDC chair

A few weeks after elected National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kofi Portuphy has stated that he and his team are ready to lead the NDC to victory in 2016.

According to the NDC boss, his party is putting in place the appropriate measures and plans to reinvigorate and activate the rank and file to work assiduously to make a comprehensive victory in the next elections certain.

"Ghana under President John Mahama had kept the peace and security of the country intact thus the need to sustain it. I stand here to assure the clergy and Ghanaians in general of the commitment of the national executives to put in their utmost best to maintain the current peace and stability our dear citizens are feeling."

To correspond the call by the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante at a thanksgiving ceremony at the West Legon Methodist Church in Accra, Dr. Kofi Portuphy said he was inching to his vision of impacting positively on the citizenry.

Professor Asante challenged the NADMO boss to contribute to a peaceful country as leader of the NDC in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

In response, the NDC Chairman said, "I humbly pledge before the Bishop and all of you here that I am a servant of this country and I will serve all political parties and endeavor that the peace we are enjoying in this country, I will lead the NDC to sustain the peace before, during and after the next general elections."

In furtherance to his pledge to uphold the peace and cohesion of the country, Dr. Kofi Portuphy said his dreams and aspirations will come to not if the relevant stakeholders in his chairmanship don't give him the desired support.

"What I require of the church and the Bishop is a perpetual prayer that will strengthen me, and a continuous counseling from the church and the unalloyed support from my party (NDC) for the dream to be achieved."

He noted that the party under his leadership will champion an issue-based campaign that will bring ideas to the fore to accelerate socio-economic development.

The thanksgiving service brought together some party bigwigs including the speaker of parliament Mr. Doe Adjaho, Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram constituency, Commodore Steve Obimpeh, who represented the Vice President, and others.
