The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised the leader of the Movement for Change and presidential candidate, Alan Kyerematen, to steer clear of politics of insults and concentrate on advancing his policies as he campaigns ahead of the elections on December 7.

On Wednesday, October 2, Alan Kyerematen presented his running mate to the Asantehene and asked for the Ashanti people's support, during a visit to the Manhyia Palace.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urged Kyerematen to focus his campaign on policy debates, stressing the significance of avoiding insults when engaging with the electorates.

“All I will say is that Alan Kyerematen is my grandson and I will support his vision. I will urge you to clearly explain your policies to Ghanaians so they understand what you’re capable of. Focus on your campaign and your messages and desist from politics of insult,” he told him.

In order to avert voter apathy, the Asantehene further asked political parties to adequately inform the public about their programs and to put them into effect when they go to vote.

“People will be losing confidence in political parties if a majority of them say they will not take part in elections and that will greatly affect the affairs of political parties. We are hoping that the political parties are able to implement their policies if they are given the nod, so there can be peace and stability in the country,” details from Alan's media team and made available to GhanaWeb said.

The Movement for Change's presidential candidate presented his plan to address the canker amid the general outcry for actions to be taken to combat illicit mining.

“As part of my policies, I will ensure that the government does not maintain the sole ownership of the country’s mineral resources. I will make sure to involve the Chiefs as well, by making them the gold trustees of mineral rights in Ghana,” he stressed.
