I will unseat Benyiwa Doe ? Jeo Hackman

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Gomoa West Constituency, Jeo Kingsley Hackman says he will unseat the NDC strong parliamentarian for the area, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe in the December elections.

?Benyiwa Doe is trying to stay on the throne but I can say that I have already unseated her,? Hackman opined.

According to the NPP candidate, the performance of the party within three and half years in office served as a trump card for his victory over the NDC heavyweight. He maintained that the NPP government has undertaken more developmental projects in the area as compared with the NDC?s eight -year tenure of office.

Hackman expressed this faith to The Chronicle in an interview on Tuesday at Apam.

He said the electorate has now become aware of the progress the government has made by providing schools and toilet facilities among other things which which can be seen in the area. This, he said, was an indication that the NPP government was committed to serve the people.

?I am with a government that has proven itself and worthy of being re-elected,? said Hackman.

He refuted the notion that Gomoa West was an NDC stronghold saying that the NDC support for the area has been dwindling. He noted that Benyiwa Doe won the seat again in 2000 elections by a small margin, which should scare her this time around.

His major concern in the area, he said was to create employment to reduce migration of the youth to the urban cities to look for jobs. Hackman explained that his little experience with the people revealed that most of them wanted to stay and work and contribute to the development of the area.

Benyiwa Doe is gunning for her fourth time in Parliament and there have been several moves by the NPP to unseat the vocal lady who has started her political carrier as an Assemblywoman and has now made her way to the African Parliament.

Just recently her constituency chairman who had been the pillar behind her announced his retirement in active politics, a move perceived by some political analysts as a ploy by some influential people within the ruling government to undermine the lady?s fourth slot to the House.

Whether Hackman can unseat the iron lady in the December elections is yet to be seen.
