Parliamentary candidates aspiring to compete for parliamentary seats on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region have picked and submitted their forms in preparation for serious campaign activities.

One of such aspirants in the Ketu South Constituency, Mr. David Tiano Quashie, has launched his campaign at Aflao with the assurance that he would device an effective strategy to make history by winning the seat, as well as to increase the votes for the presidential candidate of his political party – NPP

Addressing a large gathering at the launch, Mr. Quashie explained that the decision to contest the parliamentary primary was motivated by the many years of learning to identify the role that he could play as a Member of Parliament (MP) to support development activities which have eluded the people, even though their MPs, over the years, could have made the necessary impact.

Mr. Quashie noted that many years of observation and experience he had on the ground, so far as politics was concerned in the constituency, made him feel that the time had come to represent the people.

He called for maximum support that would enable him win at the primary to enable him to also win the seat for the NPP in 2020 for the needed development.

He noted that he had over the years contributed to the growth and development of the NPP in the Ketu-South Constituency and beyond, an achievement that compelled the grassroots to call on him to avail himself to be voted for at the primary.

Mr. Quashie observed that even though Ketu-South Constituency is considered a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), there was a general feeling and burning desire of the people to vote for him as an NPP Member of Parliament for the first time in the political history of the area.

“It is a general knowledge at the grassroots that if the NPP is conducting a search to find a grassroots person, then it is me, Quashie, because my support for party activities is much appreciated by all and envy to our major opponents. I am one of the few who worked for victory for the NPP in 2016, and would do the same in 2020 in a different capacity when given the opportunity as the parliamentary candidate of our great party,” he said.

He continued that in 2012, he had similar call from NPP delegates in Ketu-South to compete at the primary, but he gave an excuse, and the same delegates were still appealing to him to compete this time round, which he has agreed to do.

Mr. Quashie served the NPP as a Polling Station Assistant, Electoral Area Co-coordinator and Victory 2016 Co-coordinator for Ketu-South Constituency.

He commended the NPP members, sympathisers, as well as members of other political parties who have been supporting him and the NPP over the years, and was hoping they would do the same in the 2020 general elections.
