I would help move Obuasi forward – Obuasi MCE

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi West has said Nana Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the new Patriotic Party (NPP), is not conversant with the country’s 1992 constitution.

Mr. John Alexander Ackon, the candidate, said this was his perception after watching of Nana Akufo Addo’s reaction to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) issue during the recent IEA presidential debate at Tamale, “he is not on top of the constitution of Ghana.”

In an encounter with the media at Obuasi as a prelude to re-launching his campaign, the parliamentary candidate said that the NPP presidential candidate demonstrated that the he knew nothing about the NDPC as his answers to the issue portrayed.

Mr. Ackon, who is the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, also challenge to the NPP parliamentary candidate for Obuasi West, Mr Kwaku Kwarteng to let the people of Obuasi know the specific Projects he claimed to have influenced for the area during his time at Ministry of Finance during the former administration.

He said for the few years as the Municipal Chief Executive, he had helped to fashioned out healthy human relations with the people and his progressive leadership that had brought a number of socio – economic improvement in the Municipality.

“There is a future for Obuasi because we now have the right leadership. Developmental Structures are springing up and as far as educational institutions are concerned, more would follow”, he said.

Mr Ackon said he who climbed a good tree needed a push and encouraged the press to help canvass more support for him and urged them to create an equal playing field for all the parliamentary candidates.
