Frank Annoh-Dompreh is the Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri
The Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has issued a stern warning to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), stating that the police chief “will not know peace” until the Electoral Commission declares the results of the Ablekuma North parliamentary elections.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by 1957 News, Annoh-Dompreh expressed frustration over what he described as an unprecedented delay in the declaration of results, which has now dragged on for six months.
“We find it a bit strange. It has never happened in our political discourse. We resorted to a civil approach by presenting a petition to the IGP. We will give him reasonable time, and we are hoping he will act,” he said.
He stressed that their demand is not for the results to be declared in favour of the NPP, but simply based on the figures available.
“We are not saying that they should declare the thing in our favour. They should declare it based on the figures that are available,” he added.
According to him, the delay undermines democratic processes and disrespects the constitutional representation of the people of Ablekuma North.
He cited the Dome-Kwabenya constituency where the NPP accepted results that did not go in their favour, contrasting it with what he described as the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) unwillingness to accept defeat.
“When it went in their favour, they were happy and applauding. Now, when it goes against you, you won’t agree,” he said.
The MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri further warned that failure by the IGP to act within what he termed as ‘reasonable time’ would have consequences, though he did not outline specific actions.
“He will never know peace, and he will never be happy. That one, I assure you,” he declared.
This development comes after the Minority Caucus in Parliament, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, marched from Parliament to the CID Headquarters.
The protest was in response to the Electoral Commission’s continued inability to declare the results for the 2024 Ablekuma North parliamentary elections.
The caucus submitted a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, demanding maximum security for EC officials to enable the collation and announcement of the long delayed results.
