This is how the National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has described the Interparty Advisory Committee (IPAC) which is mandated to find a common ground on the upcoming compilation of a new voters' register for the upcoming December polls.

With barely six months to the elections, some political parties are still at war with the Electoral Commission of Ghana over the primary form of identification to be used for the polls.

In the words of the leader of the largest opposition party, the Electoral Commission’s relentless efforts to compile a new voters’ register for the upcoming general elections is only serving as a recipe for confusion.

According to Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the NDC has long held the idea that the Jean Mensa-led EC is set to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters in the upcoming polls.

Thus, their uncompromising and dictatorial posture at IPAC meetings.

He said in an interview on Ahotor FM that, “We the parties on IPAC are supposed to agree on dates to register Ghanaians. We were supposed to agree that we have never conducted a registration exercise in June-July because that is the rainy season. So, when the EC say they’ll do the registration in June-July and comply with safety protocols, then they’re joking because the rain will ruin it…”

This is not the first time the largest opposition party has expressed its disdain for the EC’s posture at IPAC meetings, as a number of such EC-led meetings have either been boycotted or ended in a stalemate.
