The Vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has called on the people of the Upper East Region to ignore divisive comments from NDC members on campaign platforms.

According to him, President John Mahama and the NDC have no message of hope for the many suffering Ghanaians and have therefore decided to attack the NPP’s flagbearer and incite Ghanaians against him in order to retain power.

Dr. Bawumia disclosed this at Bongo in the Bongo Constituency as part of his campaign tour of some parts of the Upper East Region.

He said that instead of inciting Ghanaians, especially those from the North, against Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP, the NDC Communicators and President Mahama should beg for forgiveness for taking them for granted over the years.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the inconsistencies in the President’s statements and his lackadaisical attitude towards the fight against corruption and endorsement of profligate expenditure do not make him a true brother from the North.

Northerners are sincere, truthful and do not encourage waste of resources at the expense of the suffering majority. President Mahama and the NDC are always calling on Northerners to vote for him because he is a brother. Northerners are proud of their values; they are sincere and will uphold their integrity at all time.

“We don’t have money but we can be proud of ourselves, because we are honest people and handle our family or community resources with care. Honesty was the guiding principle of the elites in the North and all Northerners for that matter.”

Dr. Bawumia asked the people of the region to ignore the divisive remarks of the President and vote for Nana Addo who can help the people of the Upper East Region and the country as a whole.

President Mahama enjoys verbal fight against corruption and does very little to reduce the rate at which people in his government get opportunity to inflate prices and even award and pay for non-existent contracts, the vice presidential candidate of the NPP stated.

“John Mahama’s government is the most corrupt government in the history of Ghana, there is no question about that. And he has the audacity to come to the North to tell the Northerners to vote for him again because he is your brother. Why will a government that claims to love you turn round to use dubious ways to steal your resources and watch you suffer?

“NPP used GH¢20 billion to govern Ghana with many social interventions- NHIS, Youth Employment, Metro Mass Transit, nurse and teacher trainees allowances. NDC government, led by President John Mahama, has had a total of GH¢248 billion, yet everything in Ghana is Wahala.
