– YB To Ashanti Region Delegates

Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the leading aspirant in the New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary race in the upcoming April 12 National Executives Council elections, in the last week visited the Ashanti Region as part of his campaign tours around the country.

His campaign in the Region took him to several constituencies including Afigya Sekyere East, Afram Plains, Kumawu, Juaben, Effiduase, Afram Plains, Bekwai, Odotobri, Bosome Freho, Manso Nkwanta, Manso Edubia, Atwima Mponua, Atwima Nwabiagya North, Atwima Nwabiagya South, Asante Akyem North, Asante Akyem South, Asante Akyem Central, Ahafo Ano South East, Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, where he interacted with delegates. He also engaged the leadership of Tescon in the Ashanti Region.

The delegates stressed to Mr. Buaben on the need of the current government to be voted out by all means. They said it was very obvious that the NPP administration was the only administration that could govern the people of Ghana hence the need for the NPP to win in 2016 at all legitimate cost. They expressed concern about how some of the leaders of the party are always in a rush to the media to discuss issues concerning the party thereby putting all of the party's issues out in the public.

Mr. Asamoah who is also known to many as YB, boldly reiterated to the delegates that his main aim of joining the race was to help the party win elections 2016. He explained that in 2016, there would be no Supreme Court. YB stressed that the party needs to win legitimately at the polling stations just as Dr. Afari Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission said, and which position the Supreme Court has endorsed. The party needs a unifier as a General Secretary, someone who is devoid of factionalism, and someone who knows the stakes of 2016. The party needs YB as its General Secretary to help rotates issues for victory in 2016"

YB, whose campaign theme is "Unity To Protect The Ballot", urged all members of the party to stay united for victory in 2016 and beyond. He told the delegates that in 2016 all hands will be needed to help protect the ballots at various polling stations since elections are won there and no where else. The protection of the ballot he stressed, is the only true representation of the person Ghanaians want in power.

The delegates agreed with Mr. Buaben Asamoa and assured him of their support. On the issue of party members rushing to the media to voice out their displeasures, Mr. Buaben expressed worry but was elated the elders of the party had admonished members to cease fire on air. He encouraged all members to rally behind the National Council and the various executives who would be elected into office come April 12.

Whilst in the Ashanti Region, YB attended the funeral of the brother of the Fomena Chairman of the party. Present at the funeral was Chairman Wontumi, the newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman. YB also attended the thanksgiving service of the Ashanti Regional Executives and his presence received the thunderous chants of 'General Secretary'.
