Failed Presidential candidate hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has failed in another attempt to become a parliamentary candidate of the party in his hometown of Binduri.
The professional electrician, Stephen Atubiga was disgraced by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Dr. Robert Kuganab-Lem who has broken the record of being the only candidate to have won in two rows as parliamentary candidate for the NDC.
Mr. Atubiga who has been bragging prior to the contest, came last with a paltry 22 votes whereas Hon Ben Noah Azure got 126 votes. Azumbe Aruk Simon who have the incumbent and former Deputy Upper East Regional Minister a run for his cash polled 249 votes with the incumbent making a narrow escape with 298 votes.
Meanwhile, Mr Atubiga has congratulated Dr. Robert Kuganab-Lem and promised him his unflinching support ahead of the 2020 polls.
A post on his Facebook reads “I congratulate all the aspirants who lost. There is always another day to try again and same to the winning aspirants. We win and lose together as a party”
In all 54 aspirants contested in all the 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region and winners duly declared ahead of the 2020 General Elections where it is expected to be a straight fight between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)”
