Independent presidential candidate promises jobs

Accra, April 25, GNA - Mr Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah, an independent presidential candidate, on Thursday promised to create jobs should he win the December 8 vote.

He said he would intensify investment in rural infrastructure, telecommunications, improve basic and secondary schools and quality health facilities.

Speaking at a programme dubbed; "The Platform" at the University of Ghana, Legon, Mr Amoafo-Yeboah called for a concerted effort from all Ghanaians to overcome the country's challenges.

He said despite government policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme and National Youth Employment Programme, which were meant to improve the lives of the people, they were not feeling the effects.

"Almost everyday we hear about the macro-economic stability; that the cedi has been stabilized; that inflation has been tamed; that we have made improvements in our basic infrastructure such feeder roads and trunk roads. These are real attempts to improve our peoples' lives. However, when we try to ask why we are not feeling these 'positive effects' that is when the trouble begins."

Mr Amoafo-Yeboah said if politicians did not change their style, there would be absolutely no change and the people would continue to complain about the same issues such as crumbling schools, inadequate healthcare, high unemployment and corruption.

He therefore called on Ghanaians to come together as one people with a common bond of citizenship, goals and aspirations and head for a common destiny.
