Industrialist wins NPP primaries in Shama

Mr Ato Panford, former Executive Member of the Western Regional branch of the Association of Ghana Industries has emerged as winner of New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in Shama constituency.

He polled a total of 281 as against his major contender, Erickson Abakah who had 194 votes.

The election was nearly marred by the Methodist Reverend Minister who initially did not want his premises to be used for politics.

On the other hand, popular acclamation became the order of the day in most constituencies in the Sekondi/ Takoradi Metropolis.

At Essikado, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Joe Ghartey went unopposed, Mr Joseph Cudjoe, the Effia MP also went unopposed.

There was however no primaries at Kwesimintsim and Sekondi.
