The Eagle Eye, a youth group which claims affiliation to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sagnerigu Constituency of the Northern Region, stormed the constituency party office at Katara and destroyed properties belonging to the party.
Members of the group, numbering about 33, marched to the party office on Saturday, 21 September 2019 and vandalised computers, printers, office furniture and plastic chairs, among others.
A member of the group who gave his name as Issah Abubakari, told Class FM’s Savannah Regional Correspondent, Zion Abdul Rauf that the NPP has neglected them after they worked hard to bring the party to power.
He cited the failure of the government to provide them with jobs as the main reason for their action adding that many of the members of the Eagle Eye had applied to be part of the ongoing training for the National Identification Authority (NIA) card registration in the region only to be turned away.
He said their protests should serve as a clear warning to the national executives of the NPP that none of the members of the Eagle Eye will suffer for the party for the 2020 elections if nothing is done to address their concerns.
