K T Hammond is a former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa
Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond, has cautioned against labeling the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a corrupt political organisation, insisting that corruption allegations against some members should not be used to tarnish the image of the entire party.
In a viral TikTok post on October 28, 2025, Hammond stated that the NPP, as a political institution, has not been implicated in any corruption case, stressing that only some individuals within the party have been accused.
“No one should brand NPP as a corrupt party. It is not the party that is corrupt; it is certain individuals who have been accused of corruption,” he said in the interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson of Oyerepa TV.

He likened the situation to a family setting, where one member’s wrongdoing should not define the whole group.
“Every family has a bad nut, but that does not mean the family is bad,” he explained.
Hammond added that there has been no lawsuit against the NPP as a body, emphasising that those cited in corruption cases were acting in their personal capacities.
“Names were mentioned, and we have different characters. No one has sued NPP. The NPP as a political party has not been to court; it is individuals within the party that have been called out,” he indicated.

He further argued that it is unrealistic to expect the president to know the intentions or integrities of appointees before giving them positions.
“The heart and mind cannot be known by the president to tell whether the person is corrupt or not until they were given appointments,” he added.
