A Deputy National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Boahen has said the Electoral Commission Chairperson has failed her core mandate to conduct free and fair elections as such she needs to be shown the exit.

According to him, Jean Mensa has supervised three elections which have all been marred by electoral malpractices, an indication of failure which warrants her sacking.

“ . . the EC Boss has conducted three elections and they have all gone bad. She failed on her core mandate and we must dismiss her based on this,” Kweku Boahen said onUTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme.

He further advised Madam Jean Mensa to have the nation at heart as far as her dealings at the helm of affairs of the Commission is concerned.

“She must know she has children and therefore posterity would judge her . . . she is not professional and doesn’t know what she is about; she is occupying the position by virtue of the fact that her party is in power,” he added.

Kweku Boahen made these assertions during a panel discussion on a release by the Electoral Commission (EC) indicating it would compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 General Elections, and that the decision came out of the ‘Inter-Party Advisory Committee’ (IPAC) meeting held on Wednesday.

The NDC has, however, issued a statement denying the fact that an agreement was reached on the compilation of a new voters’ register and further demanded of the EC to withdraw what it describes as a “deceptive communique” it earlier circulated.

Nonetheless, Kweku Boahen is of the view that it is these arbitrary actions of the EC Boss that has led to her abysmal performance in the last three elections she has supervised.
