Kade NPP primaries ends in deadlock

Akyem Takyiman (E/R), Sept. 26, GNA- Election for a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Kade constituency in the December parliamentary elections ended in a deadlock at Akyem Takyiman on Saturday after two rounds of balloting.

In the first round, the incumbent, Mr Ofosu Asamoah, and Mr William Ampem Darko, popularly known as "Willie Pee", tied with 51 votes apiece, while the third candidate, Mr Bismarck Amponsah, an economist and farmer, obtained five votes.


However, when Mr Asamoah and Mr Darko went into a run-off, they again obtained 53 votes each with one rejected vote.

Officials of the Eastern Regional Executive of the party announced that a new date would be fixed for another balloting.
