Kadehene calls for massive turn out at Elections

Kade, Sept. 08, GNA - Barima Agyare Tenadu II, Kadehene, has appealed to the electorates to turn out massively to vote during the September 26, District Level Elections.

He explained that it was with such massive turn out that the decentralization process would be enhanced and democracy deepened in the country.

Barima Tenadu was speaking at the mounting of a platform by the Kwaebibirem District Electoral Office at Kade for three electoral areas. These are Kubease, Abaase and Nsuase. However, he cautioned the electorates against voting for candidates who would make vain promises but rather vote for candidates who would serve them faithfully with dedication and offer exemplary leadership which could inspire others in the community. Mr Gabriel Dei, Kwaebibirem District Electoral Officer, reminded the electorates that the elections were non partisan and those who would introduce party politics would be contravening the law and could face prosecution.

Twelve candidates including two women presented their manifestoes and they intended to help improve environmental health, education and provision of potable water.

When Mr Ben K. Amponsah, 65, a Former Chief Superintendent of Police and a radiographer at the Police Hospital in Accra, contesting the Kubease seat mounted the platform, the people shouted "You are over qualified" and urged him to wait and be recommended for nomination as Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive. He insisted that he was contesting the elections because he needed to start from somewhere and his role at the assembly could be a stepping stone for any other position.

Mr Richmond Eshun, a carpenter, contesting the Nsuase seat said he had a track record of helping to promote education. He said two years ago, he donated 40 dual desks to basic schools at Kade and 20 desks to the Kade Senior Secondary/Technical School recently and promised to offer more assistance to education. Two incumbents contesting the elections are Mr J. K. Koomson for Nsuase and Miss Evelyn Aboagye for Abaase.
