Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong over the weekend dined at Pempamsie hotel where the New Patriotic Party (NPP) super delegates congress took place to celebrate the loss of Stephen Asamoah Boateng, popularly known as Asabee, who had zero when the total votes were counted.

Elated Mr. Agyapong sponsored assorted drinks and food and celebrated with some of the members of the Akufo-Addo campaign team including Hawa Koomson, Member of Parliament for Awutu East constituency and one Mr. Anim at the restaurant section of the hotel when he realized that Akufo-Addo had taken the lead in the Central region and Mr. Asabee had gotten zero in his own backyard.

According to him, he was not surprised Mr. Boateng got Zero in the region and said he did not have any problem with Asabee, but the candidate was the one who had a problem with him to the extent that he openly professed that Kennedy is against him.

“I had no problem with him, rather it was he who was having problems with me; he even said it openly that I will vote against him,” he stated.

Mr. Agyapong said he will support anyone who will lead the party for the 2016 general election, only that he believes Akufo-Addo is the best person among the lot to secure victory for the NPP.

He said what has happened at the super delegates congress is a true reflection of what Akufo-Addo can do in the 2016 election.

“I get frustrated and marveled when people undermine the competence of Nana, what has just happened is a signal to all those who undermine Nana to come together for the unity of this country, let’s not disfranchise anyone,” he cautioned.

As a member of the campaign team, he promised to bring everybody on board to fight what he called the common enemy, the National Democratic Congress NDC).

“One thing people have forgotten is that the old folks in NPP are out so it is clear that Nana is going to emerge as winner and his victory today defeats the assumption and notion that Nana will never become President of this country,” he said.
