Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, is likely to contest for the seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016.
Nice posters of the former legislator have appeared on social media such as Whatsapp and Facebook.
The posters have the portrait of Kofi Jumah with inscription ‘Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah for Asokwa Constituency in 2016.’
When contacted, Kofi Jumah admitted that he had seen the posters on social media but he flatly denied manufacturing them.
Kofi Jumah added that some people, who want him to represent the people of Asokwa in Parliament, had designed the posters.
He claimed some residents of Asokwa, including NPP delegates, who voted against him during the NPP’s last primaries, were pushing for his re-election.
According to him, he had received calls from scores of people in Asokwa, who were mounting pressure on him to contest for the position again in 2016.
Kofi Jumah said the NPP delegates, who are among his admirers, had pledged to support him during the NPP’s primaries.
The former Asokwa MP said he was in the process of consulting his family members, friends and key NPP members when the posters popped up.
Mr Jumah stated that he was currently part of the NPP’s National Council and NPP Communication Team, noting that as chairman of NPP ex-MPs, Ministers and DCEs, he would have to consult the influential party officials before taking a decision.
Bright Oppong Nyarko, Spokesperson for Kofi Jumah, alleged that one Monica, a staunch NPP member, was behind the design of the posters of the former MP.
