Krowor Footsoldiers want Nii Kakai as NPP Chairman

Nana Sam Kobina Footsoldiers of the New Patriotic Party in the Krowor constituency of the Greater Accra Region are said to be clamouring for the return of Nii Bubui Kakai as the party’s constituency Chairman.

Nii Kakai, a former Chairman of the constituency, did not seek re-election in the previous contest for the position in the constituency, paving the way for John Manu, the current Chairman, to take over. But, according to Dan Ayaaba, an Area Coordinator of the party in the constituency, majority of the footsoldiers of the party believe the time has come for Nii Kakai to return to lead the re-building efforts of the party. “Our footsoldiers believe, and I also do, that our former Chairman did a very good job when he was in charge of the party in the constituency and we even need him most at this crucial time that we are re-building the party in our effort to win back power in 2016,” Mr Ayaaba told newsmen. The hardworking Area Coordinator said after interacting with many party members and supporters in the constituency, he had come to the conclusion that the constituency want Nii Kakai back as the Chairman.

“Even though he has not indicated his intention to return to contest to become the next Chairman, the people have been urging him to do so, and it is expected that he will heed the call of the footsoldiers and return to serve the party,” Dan Ayaaba added.

According to Mr Ayaaba, the desire of the footsoldiers to see Nii Kakai back as the constituency Chairman is borne out of their resolve to get committed and resourceful leaders to spearhead the party’s effort to re-capture power in the 2016 elections. “The fact is that we can’t afford another defeat in the 2016 elections and so there is urgent call on people who are seen by the footsoldiers as capable leaders to contest for various positions in the party. I can tell you this is not limited to only the constituency level but at all levels of the party, right from the polling station to the national level,” Mr Ayaaba added. The party Area Coordinator added his voice to the call for all party members to avoid utterances and activities that have the potential to undermine the party’s unity, adding that the fact that “we are in a season of contest for positions at all levels of the party does not mean we should talk anyhow.”

Dan Ayaaba added: “As true believers in the blue, white and red colour, let us exhibit our continued adherence to the tenets of democracy and decent competition which form the foundation of our party. We are one people pursuing a common cause of seeking power to salvage our dear nation from the current hopeless state and we can only achieve our aim if we remain united and focused.”
