The forecasts so far show a victory for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming elections but the margin is what the forecasters are not agreed upon.
The ADM has information that though the Party?s own forecasters are confident of a first round victory, they have decided to pin their masts on conservative figures. They are looking at the ?early fifties? and not the wildly exaggerated huge figures which are being bandied about by some people.
In these final days to the election, all the parties are watching anxiously to see if there are any ?defections?, no matter how small to their folds.
The NPP expects to create new ?World Banks? in the Eastern, Western, Brong Ahafo Regions and make substantial gains in the Northern Region in spite of the Dagbon crisis.
One thing working for the NPP is the personality of President Kufuor which is attracting moderate Ghanaians who are afraid of the ?revolutionary politics? Prof. Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress is increasingly exhibiting.
Indeed, many NPP Parliamentary Candidates are now relying on this Kufuor Factor to win or retain their seats.
Party operatives would no doubt be playing up the Kufuor factor which as a vote-getter should have been played up much earlier.
