Kyerematen takes campaign trail to Legon

Accra, April 10, GNA - All activities at the University of Ghana, Legon, came to a standstill on Saturday when Mr. Alan Kyerematen, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), took his presidential campaign to the campus.

He was met at the main entrance of the university by TESCON executives, tertiary students' wing of NPP, at about 1015 hours, amidst lively music, and was taking through almost all the halls of the university, lasting for about an hour.

Mr. Kyerematen acknowledged cheers from the students who were enthusiastic at seeing him and his entourage, comprising Mr. Kwabena Adjeipong, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, Mr. Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, members of the party, among others.

Momentarily the crowd got larger as some of the students joined it while others who could not join the crowd, rushed to the balconies and corridors of their halls to cheer Mr. Kyerematen.

The atmosphere was charged when he arrived at the Commonwealth Hall, where he told the students that he was offering them hope because his main priority was to provide jobs to solve the problem of graduate unemployment in the country.

Mr. Kyerematen called on the students to work hard and pass the examinations to enable them to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that he would create if voted as flagbearer of the NPP and subsequently, President of the country.

He continued to Ayawaso West Wogon and Ayawaso East Constituencies and asked constituency and polling stations executives to choose a presidential candidate who cut across all political segments and could attract floating voters.

"If we all agree that winning power in 2012 is our main goal, then let us not elect a person who will become just a flagbearer, but a person who will win us power in 2012", Mr Kyerematen stressed.

He later undertook a float on the Nima Highway, visited shops along the streets, shared his message with the sellers and passers-by, toured the Nima Market and interacted with market women and finally addressed a gathering of party faithfuls at the Nima Round-about.

Mr Kyerematen would round up his campaign in the Greater Accra Region on Monday.
