LIVE UPDATES: NPP's 'Democracy Under Attack' demonstration

Hundreds of members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have taken to the streets of Accra on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to protest what the party describes as an attack on democracy under the current government.

The demonstration, dubbed "Democracy Under Attack," is aimed at defending civil liberties, the rule of law and democratic accountability, according to the party.

The protesters began their march from the Supreme Court, their point of departure, and are heading towards the Jubilee House, the final destination, to express their concerns and frustrations over what they describe as threats to Ghana's democratic values.

The protest has attracted support from other groups, including the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), which has thrown its weight behind it.
