Lawra, (U/W) June 28, GNA - Mr George Y. Sule, President nominee as the Lawra District Chief Executive was on Tuesday confirmed by polling 46 out of the 47 votes cast. With his confirmation the 54-year-old teacher would become the next District Chief Executive after the death of Mr Sylvannus Ganfaa in October last year.

In his address, Mr Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister congratulated members of the House for their high level of maturity and unity of purpose by voting massively to confirm the DCE. He urged them to remain united to be able to execute programmes that could enhance the development of the area since they were people of the same ethnic group.

Mr Dery blamed politicians for sometimes dividing people for selfish and individual gains to the detriment of development in their areas. "If the lives of our people are improved it will be a credit for all of us, but their lives are worsened it will be a shame for all of us."

Mr Sule, the new DCE said he would strive to bridge the seemingly differences between the people of Lawra and Nandom and appealed for co-operation to achieve that. He said he would also channel the district resources towards the improvement of health educational and poverty reduction projects to make the people self-sufficient.

Mr Ken B.K. Dabuo, Presiding Member of the House urged the DCE to act according to the laid down developmental agenda of the district and not to engage in taking unilateral decisions. He appealed to the House to lend their support to him to be able to achieve the developmental goals of the districts.
