Accra, Oct. 28, GNA - Vice President Aliu Mahama on Wednesday advised politicians who lose their positions to take the misfortune in good faith and wait patiently until the table turn in their favour. "Let's learn to queue patiently for our turn and desist from behaving as without us Ghana would burn. Ghana is bigger than any of us," he added.
He said the New Patriotic Party waited for 30 years before the good people of Ghana gave it the mandate.
"We are democrats by choice and not by false, therefore, we will always respect the choice of the people" he declared.
Vice President Mahama said this at a durbar organized in his honour at Achimota as part of his three-day tour of the Greater Accra Region. He said rebellious politicians whose activities undermined the peace and unity of their parties should not be encouraged because they must learn to step aside when they are rejected in elections.
People from Ablekuma South and Okai-Koi North gave the vice President a rousing welcome as his convoy drove from Korle Gonno, where he met the Muslim community, through Tunga and Dansoman towards the durbar grounds at Achimota.
Acknowledging the warm reception, he said he believes it symbolizes the people's appreciation for the good works of the Kufuor administration towards improving the quality of life of Ghanaians. He appealed to the people to renew the mandate of administration to continue with its agenda to pull down the walls of poverty and intolerance by strengthening democracy and erecting sound development.
Addressing the Muslim community at Korle Gonno, the Vice President advised them to run a decent campaign and be disciplined in their conduct during the electioneering period. He inspected work on the rehabilitation of a Kwaku Akron road and the provision of new drains by the sides at a total cost of six billion cedis.
The Vice President also addressed the Muslim community at Tunga, where he re-iterated his message of political tolerance and quality education for their children.
Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Rashid Bawa, Minister of state for Education Youth and Sport, Mr. Abubakar Sadique Boniface, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Madam Teresa Tagoe, Deputy Minister of Land and Forestry took turns to address the durbars, asking the people to give the NPP another chance to serve Ghana.
