Let¹s give Sakou time to make up his mind - CPP The communications director
of the Convention People¹s Party, William Dowokpor says Sakou Nkrumah¹s
resignation from the NDC is no surprise since it was to be expected
stressing that he (Sakou) needed time to make up his mind. He said with the
CPP¹s decision to run ³their own race², people who did not consider the CPP
as a political party are reconsidering their decisions ³and are coming back
in droves². Mr. Dowokpor added that he could confirm that Sakou Nkrumah was
not the only one leaving the NDC to CPP but many others who would be known
in the coming weeks. ³ŠI can confirm to you that it is not only Sakou
Nkrumah who is leaving the NDC to come back to the CPP but there are many
more who are doing so and in the days, weeks and months ahead, we are going
to hear about many people who have one way or the other affiliated with the
NDC or NPP to find their way back homeŠ² Speaking on the Big Bite on Xfm
95.1, the CPP communications director stated that though Sakou Nkrumah has
said his resignation is not to enable him join the CPP, he believed the
issue was a complex one. Explaining the complexities involved, Mr. Dowokpor
said since Sakou Nkrumah had suggested that the CPP join the NDC prior to
his resignation, he believed that it would be sudden for Sakou to state his
intentions of joining the CPP. He added that Sakou should be given time to
reflect over the situation to be able to arrive at a decision on his next
move. Mr. Dowokpor stressed that like other people who have called him, he
was sure Sakou was waiting to see indicators that the CPP was capable of
attaining power adding that he believed Sakou would join the CPP as soon as
he is convinced he would be part of a winning team. ³You let¹s hold on to
Sakou. Let¹s give him some time. It appears to me that Sakou will really
love to be part of the winning team and as soon as he is absolutely
convinced that come 2012 elections towards 2013, CPP will be in power, I
believe he will make that spectacular U-turn, and fully join the CPP.
There¹s no need to hurry now.² Though Mr. Dowokpor would not mention names
of CPP people who were sitting on the fence, he stressed that after the CPP
congress, he has received congratulatory calls from such people who have
assured him of their support ³to make the CPP an alternate to the NDC and
NPP².
