The Ahafo-Ano North District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr Samuel Otchere has appealed to the political parties to give every needed support and cooperation to the Electoral Commission (EC) to make the December polls a success.
He urged them to do everything possible to help protect the integrity of the elections so that the outcome would be acceptable to all.
Speaking during the inauguration of an inter-party dialogue committee for the area at Tepa, Mr Otchere said it also demanded from them fair play, tolerance and responsible conduct.
Mischief and intimidation of political opponents, he noted, would simply be unhelpful and must therefore not be glorified - It should be repudiated.
The committee draws its membership from the political parties, EC, the security agencies, NCCE, the district assembly, traditional and religious leaders.
He said Ghana had won the admiration of the international community because of its democracy and it was imperative nothing was done to destroy the nation’s democratic credentials.
Mr Otchere asked the political parties and their followers to continue to draw lessons from civil strife caused by flawed elections in other parts of Africa to avoid pitfalls.
