Konongo (Ash), March 21, GNA - Mr Andy Appiah-Kubi, an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Asante Akim North Constituency, has called for a clean campaign by the various contestants to ensure peace in the Party. He said the unity in the Party was paramount than individual interest hence it was incumbent on all to conduct campaigns devoid of insults and allegations.
Mr. Appiah-Kubi was speaking to the media after filing his nomination form at the NPP's office at Konongo on Thursday. Flanked by his wife and members of his campaign team, Mr Appiah-Kubi promised to abide by the rules and regulations governing the selection process and entreated his opponents to do same in the interest of the party.
"I wish to advise all our followers to be civil in their debates and focus on issues that would help the delegates make the right choice. We should be guided by the principal objective of the Party to win the presidential slot and increase our majority in Parliament," he stressed. Mr Appiah-Kubi, who is the Deputy Director of the Ghana Freezone Board implored the delegates to elect the most marketable candidate who would be able to unite members of the Party towards a strategic campaign to maintain the seat.
He said when given the nod he would create market avenues for farmers to sell their produce as part of a comprehensive strategy to rejuvenate economic activities in the constituency. Mr Appiah-Kubi, having filed his nomination has set the stage for a fierce contest between him and Mr Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, the incumbent. Mr Baah Wiredu, who is seeking his third term, has already filed his nomination.
