Lets unite to maintain Ashaiman seat

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Emmanuel Max-voy, has admonished members and supporters of the party, especially in the Ashaiman Constituency to approach the upcoming general elections with circumspection and a sense of mission.

Mr. Max-Voy better known as Martin Luther bemoan the inability of the party executives in the Ashaiman Constituency to unite the party after of the 2015 primaries and cautioned that there must unity in the rank and file of the party to be able to win convincingly come November 7.

"Whilst the main opposition party is desperately working to use every possible to means to win the elections but seems to be rejected by the electorates, the NDC party and its leadership in Ashaiman should have rather being forging a united front for the 2016 general election. It seems this is not happening and it is worrisome to some of us. There is complacency on the part of the leadership and it must be checked immediately or we will lose a significant number of votes to the NPP come November 7 though we will secure the seat", he said

He said the leadership in the constituency should stop tagging other especially failed contenders as belonging to "camp A or camp B" and rather make sure it is able to rope everybody to actively partake in the campaign.

Mr. Max-Voy who was speaking to The Gazette in an interview remarked, "From parliamentary to the Presidential elections, the NDC must not play the deadly complacency card of 'after all here is our world bank'. It is obvious that president is the choice of majority Ghanaians but most parliamentary candidates to work hard to be able to win and therefore going on a divided front will affect many parliamentary aspirants".

"What does the party need now? The party needs to regroup and re-assert itself with a matured leadership. It is also prudent to realize that the future of the party will depend on what happens now and that means unity and hardwork will be the ultimate decider," he said.

According to the NDC man, peace and unity are paramount in Ashaiman constituency and across the country, thus entreating all party members and supporters to help protect the relative peace and unity in the constituency.

In that regard, he charged the contestants to also ensure that they explain to their followers the need to come together to ensure victory in the 2016 General Elections.

"This has not always been part of the NDC's primaries over the years. What we need is a united front to be able to rally behind our candidate to ensure his and the party's victory in the 2016 elections. We can do it; it has always been done. Let us unite as comrades," he advised.

According to him, though a noble ambition, as fate would have it, he lost in the NDC parliamentary primary in the 2015 elections, adding that that, that however, cannot deter him from contributing to the party.
