Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to develop a contingency plan to overcome the obstacles plaguing the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
The process has been marred by difficulties, resulting in numerous individuals being unable to register.
After visiting a registration center, he underscored the necessity of a backup plan to ensure that all eligible voters are able to register before the deadline, thereby meeting public expectations and averting voter disenfranchisement.
"The Electoral Commission must improve its registration system to avoid recurring problems such as network failures, which pose a risk to the timeline.
"The ongoing delays and frustrations demand prompt resolution. I implore the EC to put in place a dependable backup system to address these issues and fulfill public expectations," he stated.
