Kumasi, Jan 16, GNA-Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Member of Parliament for Asokwa and the out-going Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, has donated 12,000 exercise books to schools in seven electoral areas in his constituency.
The beneficiary schools include Asokwa-Amakom JSS, Asokwa Presbyterian primary, New Asafo JSS, Ahinsan primary and JSS, Kaase and Atonsu JSS.
They each received 500 of the exercise books.
The Good Shepherd JSS, a private school, received 1,100 of the books, while five other private schools also got 500 each.
Making the presentation in Kumasi at the weekend, Mr Jumah said the donation was in line with the New Patriotic Party's (NPP's) policy of supporting development of education.
He said, being aware that education was the bedrock upon which all developments take off, the government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that quality education is accessible and affordable to Ghanaians.
Receiving the books, Mr Frank Agyei Darko, assemblyman for New Asokwa electoral area, commended the MP for his gesture and promised to ensure that the beneficiaries have access to them and also pledged the co-operation of the constituents to ensure success during his tenure as MP.
