Mac Manu leads delegation to monitor Ivory Coast elections

Mr. Peter Mac Manu, former NPP National Chairman, honorary Chairman of Democratic Union of Africa {DUA} and Vice Chairman of International democratic Union {IDU} will today leave for Cote d'Ivoire as international observer to the upcoming Ivorian Presidential Elections slated for Sunday 25th October 2015. Mr Manu will lead the DUA delegation.

This will be the 1st Presidential Elections after the bloody post-election violence of 2010.

President Alhassan Ouatarra will stand for re-election against ten (10) candidates including 2 women. Six (6) of the candidates are independent and four (4) are sponsored by political parties.

Cote d'Ivoire economy has seen positive improvements and turnaround and the security situation has largely improved.

The elections open at 7am and closes at 5pm. Ivoirians aged 18 and above with national identity and voters’ card are eligible to vote.

The provisional electoral list has 6,300,158 voters with 22,000 polling stations.
