The Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has lambasted the John Mahama administration for neglecting Konkombas in terms of appointments.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Chairman Bugri said “I wondered why the John Mahama-led NDC administration has not found any of the seven Konkomba NDC Members of Parliament worthy of occupying any position in government,” adding that not even a Zoomlion post has been given a Konkomba NDC MP.

The only Konkomba Minister in the Mahama administration, Nayon Bilijo, serving as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, was removed in last year’s cabinet reshuffle for Sherry Ayittey, leaving Konkombas with no minister.

The outspoken NPP Chairman, who was touring the Mion constituency with the NPP’s elected parliamentary candidate, Hashim Mohammed Abdallah, visited areas like Kpalkori, Mabinbori, Donbeni, Tinsung and Bunbonaayili—all in the Mion constituency.

The NPP Northern regional chairman lamented that although Konkombas have over the years been loyal to the NDC, nothing is there to show for it.

He urged his colleague Konkombas to change their loyalty and vote for the NPP presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and Hashim in the 2016 general elections.

Mr Bugri Naabu accused the Mahama government of disliking Konkombas, noting that the president does not want to recognise Konkombas as human beings since they are the only tribe left out of the administration of the NDC.

He mentioned Charles Bintim as a Konkomba MP who was appointed a Local Government and Rural Development Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration and other Konkombas who were appointed as Deputy Ministers to serve in the NPP government.

Bugri Naabu added that “although the NPP is in opposition, the current Minority Leader in Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul, is a Konkomba, which shows the party that truly cares for them [Konkombas].”
