President John Dramani Mahama has promised to get the people of Eguafo an orange juice factory in his next term.
On Day 2 of his campaign tour in the Central Region, President Mahama said getting a citrus fruit factory in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem Municipality is not beyond his government.
This followed a request made by the Omanhen of Eguafo Traditional Area, Nana Kwamena Ansah III, on Tuesday, September 6 at his palace, where the president paid a courtesy call on him.
Omanhen Ansah III said his people do not need a dam but an orange factory.
He also said Eguafo needs a new district as it is lagging behind the other towns in terms of development.
President Mahama recounted how the opposition criticized him for building the Komenda Sugar Factory.
He said that ordeal was the same first president Kwame Nkrumah went through in the hands of the Danquah-Busia tradition.
But the president reiterated how Kwame Nkrumah braced the odds to add a citrus fruit factory to the Komenda Sugar Factory.
He said if reelected government will borrow just like it did in the case of the sugar factory to resuscitate the citrus factory in the area.
