General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey
The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has rated President John Mahama’s administration at 54 percent for its performance within the first 120 days in office.
He described the score as fair progress, despite inheriting what he called a poorly managed government from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
According to a report by graphic.com.gh, Speaking Fifi Kwetey who was speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, emphasised that the NDC remains committed to fulfilling the campaign promises it made to Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 general election.
He acknowledged that achieving perfection within the first four months of governance was ambitious but noted that the initial strides made by the administration were encouraging.
“We weren’t expecting excellence in four months, given the state of the country we inherited after eight years of NPP leadership. Achieving 52 to 54 percent against our own targets, in this context, is a start,” graphic.com.gh quoted him as saying.
He further explained that the party’s internal assessment aligns with findings from independent organisations such as IMANI Africa, which rated the Mahama-led administration’s performance at 52 percent.
He noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had rated the government lower, at 46 percent.
He also reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to reshaping governance, stressing that the party is determined to implement a different approach while holding itself to a higher standard.
“We will not tolerate short-changing the country. We are committed to a reset, doing things properly,” he added.
