The Director of Political Affairs at the Presidency, Manaf Ibrahim has been sacked according to a letter sighted by MyNewsGh.com.

It is not clear if the latest decision from authorities at the seat of government is linked to the wrangling in the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region.

But the letter signed by Augustine Blay, Secretary to the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia dated September 30, 2019, reads “ I have been directed to inform you that your appointment as Director of Political Affairs at the Vice President’s Secretariat has been terminated effective 30th September 2019.

Notwithstanding the termination, you are still under the obligation of confidentiality that you sign. During your employment. Please arrange for the return of all official equipment, property and documents in your possession. I will like to thank you for your service during your period of employment”

Sources confided in MyNewsGh.com that Manaf Ibrahim was given an option of chasing his dream of becoming an MP or staying in the Presidency but he chose the former.

It would be recalled that Manaf Ibrahim last week secured a court injunction to stop the popular acclamation of Hon. Alidu Seidu, the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong as the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after he was exempted from contesting in the primaries by what the party said was an “executive resolution”.

A resolution by Regional Executive Committee signed by the Regional Secretary Sam Pyne which was arrived at on Monday, July 29, 2019, at the meeting barring candidate persons from contesting three others they imposed in the orphan constituencies in the party’s World Bank.

Sam Pyne had disclosed that after thorough and exhaustive deliberations, the committee has unanimously declared that, the three(3) Orphan Constituencies in the region shall sponsor the candidatures of Hon. Alidu Seidu, MCE- Asokore Mampong, Hon. Salisu Bamba, MCE – Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Hon. Joseph Owusu, DCE – Sekyere Afram Plains as sole candidates for the Asawase, Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Sekyere Afram Plains respectively.

“This action is in line with the party’s strategy to annex these three (3) constituencies. The party is resolved to make sure that, all other actions are in tune with Article 12,(I) of the party’s constitution and all party members are enjoined to abide by this resolution. Party members who flout this directive shall be sanctioned according to the rules and regulations of the party’s constitution”, he said.
