The Chiefs of Agona Mankrong have expressed disgust about the recent misunderstanding between Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Interior and Mrs Queenster Maame Pokuah Sawyer, MP for the area.

The Chiefs have therefore appealed to the MP to “smoke the peace pipe” with Mr Kwesi Ahwoi for the development of the constituency.

Addressing a press conference at Agona Mankrong, Nana Ntsiful Aboadu II, Chief of Mankrong said the 20 bundles of roofing sheets and the GHC2,000 came from the Ahwoi brothers after the havoc caused by a heavy downpour in the town.

Nana Aboadu said the items were brought to them upon an appeal made by the Ahwoi brothers.

He said the roofing sheets would be used to re-roof the Methodist Primary and Junior High Schools which were affected during the rainstorm, before the re-opening of schools.

According to Nana Aboadu, the representative of the MP was present during the presentation of the materials and cash, and did not see any reason why the MP was blaming the Minister.

He said the brothers, “Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi and Ato Ahwoi had been assisting Agona East and West districts for so many years before Mrs Sawyer joined the NDC party”.

He said Mrs Sawyer and Mr Ahwoi are both citizens of Agona East and therefore urged them to bury their differences towards the development of the district.

Nana Aboadu entreated Mrs Sawyer to accord the necessary respect to Mr Ahwoi since they are both championing the development of the area.

It would be recalled that on April 22, this year, Mrs Sawyer was on radio and in the newspapers accusing Mr Ahwoi of sabotaging her in the constituency.
